SunMed Scoliosis Awareness Event 2024

A successful event took place on a Sunday at Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City for Scoliosis Awareness Month 2024 at SunMed Convention Centre.
The event commenced with welcome speeches from our Medical Director, Dr Low Kwai Siong, and the Ambassador of Malaysia Scoliosis Support Group, Ms. Shida Sapie. This was followed by insightful presentations by our Consultant Spine Surgeons Dr Lim Heng Hing, Dr Saw Lim beng, Dr Lim Kang Kai, Mr. Wong Syi Yan from SMC Tehab Team, and Muminjon Nazir from Teh Lin Prosthetic & Orthopaedic Co Pte. Ltd. (Malaysia).
The event attracted 600 participants, mainly families with children. It was divided into three segments, which included hall activities featuring lectures, children’s art classes, and booth activities in the foyer. The booth activities included a colouring corner provided by COE Women & Children, ergonomic screening by SunMed Children Development Department, scoliosis screening by our Rehabilitation team, and external booths by various vendors.
It is hoped that through this event, everyone gained a better understanding of scoliosis, a condition where the spine abnormally curves sideways, as well as possible treatments to improve the condition
